St Cloud – Minneapolis MN
It has been a sort of whirlwind since my last post 10 days ago. I will keep it as short as I can.
Working around the Mom’s house, cleaning the garage, lawn work etc.
Spent the last 5 days in Minneapolis with Brandis and, my son-in-law, Tomo. Minneapolis is only an hour from St Cloud where I grew up. They just moved into a new apartment. They keep up the grounds of the apartment house for reduced rate. I helped with the yard work as well.
Brandis and I went to the Twins Yankees game the other night. We lost but it was a slug fest. Home runs are fun to watch live at a game. The house rocks. I was quite surprised at all the Yankee fans there. A lot of transplants from the Big Apple apparently. I mean a lot. Brandis and I had such a good time.
Come to think of it, if I remember correctly, of all the Twins games I have gone too, the Twins have lost. Hmmmm? I would think the law of averages would be in my favor for a win by now.
Spending time at Kado No Mise an authentic Japanese restaurant in Minneapolis. Brandis and Tomo work there and are part time managers. Made top 50 restaurants in America, Bon Appetite Magazine the first year. Only been open 2 1/2 years. If you ever come to Minneapolis. A must and highly recommend. Check out the website www.kadonomise.com. Amazing place.
I met up with Patti at Kado No Mise. Patti and I went to school from 1st to 12th grades. We have kept in contact over the years. We meet most every time I come back to Minnesota.
Patti, has taken up Watercolor painting. Instructor told her she has only seen a few students who have a natural talent and Patti is one of them. Brandis and Tomo are both Artists. Both are very impressed. I am sure you will agree. It’s always fun catching up with Patti. God has blessed our friendship. I am grateful.
Met some incredible people as I always do. First night at Kado No Mise met a guy and a woman friend up in the Whiskey Bar. He is from Los Angeles, her from Minneapolis. They met at a local show a few years ago. He gave me his name and gave me permission to take a photo but I had to promise not to post either. All I can say is he has an association with the late Prince.
Most notably though is Natasha, more notably to me then the LA dude, a host at Kado No Mise. I drove up to the restaurant where she saw the Element full of stickers and the TX license plate. She told me she noticed and want to meet me. She wasn’t sure she should not knowing me, understandable. Some dude from Texas. Until I told her I was Brandis’ dad. “Brandis’ dad??? Ok, you’re good” LOL
Come to find out, Natasha is a kindred spirit/fellow Nomad. After the restaurant closed, she checked out the Element then drove her camper van up for me to check out.
Love her enthusiasm. We hope to meet up before I leave to exchange ideas and talk about past and future adventures. With Natasha’s permission, I will post photos her and camper van. As with a lot of my encounters while doing these adventures, fate has it, a mutual connection.
